ES Advising (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our clients, students, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in the course of providing university admissions consulting and K–12 educational support services.

For Students and Clients

  • Educational goals, learning needs, and support requirements

For Parents or Guardians (K–12 Clients)

  • Relationship to the student

Administrative Information

  • Scheduling and session notes
  • Communications with us (emails, forms, consultations)

We do not knowingly collect more information than is reasonably required to deliver our services.

2. How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information for purposes including:

  • Providing university admissions advising and application support
  • Delivering K–12 academic guidance, planning, and educational support
  • Communicating with students, parents, and guardians
  • Reviewing and editing application materials at the client’s request
  • Scheduling sessions and maintaining client records

Personal information is not used for any purpose beyond what is reasonably expected without consent.

Consent is obtained at the time personal information is collected.

For students under the age of 19 in British Columbia, we obtain consent from a parent or legal guardian, except where the student is legally able to provide their own consent under applicable laws.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

Personal information may be disclosed only in the following circumstances:

  • With the client’s or guardian’s consent
  • To trusted third-party service providers (e.g., scheduling, payment, or document platforms) who are contractually required to protect confidentiality
  • Where required by law, court order, or regulatory authority
  • To protect the legal rights, safety, or integrity of our clients or business

5. Storage and Safeguards

Personal information may be stored electronically using secure cloud-based systems, some of which may be hosted outside of Canada. In such cases, information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is stored.

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure, consistent with BC PIPA requirements.

6. Retention of Information

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to:

  • Provide ongoing or follow-up educational services
  • Meet legal, tax, or professional record-keeping requirements

When information is no longer required, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.

Under BC PIPA, individuals have the right to:

  • Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information

Requests must be made in writing, and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal exceptions.
